A registered educational trust rooted in the freedom movement of 1944 — nurturing 22,000+ students across 25 institutions spanning Pre-Primary, Pre-University, Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Professional, and Vocational programmes at Vidyagiri, Dharwad.
Janata Shikshana Samiti was established in 1944 by the freedom fighter and social reformer R.S. Hukkerikar, who believed that an independent India would be built in its classrooms. What began as a modest effort to bring education to all soon became a movement.
In 1973, stewardship of the trust passed to Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, whose vision transformed JSS into one of Karnataka’s most respected educational institutions — spanning Pre-Primary schools to professional and postgraduate colleges.
