The setting
JSS sits in picturesque surroundings on top of the Mailarlingana Gudda — the hill now called Vidyagiri — at a height of 2,511 feet above sea level, on the outskirts of Dharwad along the Pune–Bangalore highway.
From the temple of Lord Mailarlingeshwar at the summit, the campus commands a panoramic view of Dharwad city. The site was chosen for the all-round development of students, and the educational growth around it was so significant that the surrounding area itself came to be known as Vidyagiri — literally, the hill of knowledge.
Today that single hilltop holds an entire educational ecosystem, from pre-primary classrooms to postgraduate research centres.

‘Sannidhi’ Kalakshetra
The large multipurpose auditorium ‘Sannidhi’ stands within the campus, opposite the boys’ hostel. With seating for a thousand, it is one of the largest auditoriums in any educational institution in the city — a resourceful venue for functions, cultural meets and large student gatherings.

The Vidyagiri campus sits on the outskirts of Dharwad along the Pune–Bangalore (Hubli–Dharwad) highway, easily reached from both Dharwad and Hubli.
Its hilltop position makes it a recognisable landmark in the twin-city region of North Karnataka.
