Janata Shikshana Samiti (JSS), Dharwad, is a registered educational trust formally constituted in 1952, with roots dating to the freedom movement of 1944. The trust administers 25 educational institutions on its 41-acre Vidyagiri campus.
In 1973, administration was entrusted to Poojya Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala. Under this leadership, JSS expanded from a handful of schools into a comprehensive academic ecosystem spanning Pre-University through Postgraduate and Professional education.
